Job Responsibilities: 
Money Laundering Reporting:
  • To ensure that the Company complies with all requirements under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 1994, the Prevention of Money Laundering Regulations, the FIAU Implementing Measures and any other applicable regulatory requirements;
  • To ensure that all officers and employees are made aware of the regulatory requirements applicable in terms of the said laws, rules and regulations, including the Internal Rules; and
  • To report any suspicious transactions to the MFSA and the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit, even if the transaction is not carried out.
  • To ensure that the Company complies with all requirements under the Financial Institutions Act, 1994, the MFSA Financial Institutions Rules, the relevant Guidance Notes and any other applicable regulatory requirements;
  • As a Compliance Officer, to review and approve application of new and existing customers in compliance with the Company’s customer on boarding process and applicable legal requirements; 
  • To ensure that proper know your customer procedures are in place and are carried out as soon as reasonably practicable from the entering into of the business relationship; and
  • To ensure that proper records of all transactions and customers are kept. These records shall be kept for a period of five (5) years from the end of the business relationship with the respective counter party. 
Candidate Skills: 
  • The ideal candidate must be pre-approved by MFSA 
  • Tertiary level of education – law; banking & finance or related degree
  • A relevant qualification related to the compliance is required
  • At least 3 years compliance experience in the financial services industry
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with the rest of the team in ensuring maximum standards on compliance
  • Effective communication skills including very strong written communication skills for report writing and analysis
